Students of the University of Ilorin have been formally informed of an adjustment in campus transport fares, following deliberations between the Students’ Union and transport operators.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued by the Students’ Union on Monday, April 13, 2026, from the Kaduna Nzeogwu Building.
According to the statement, the new transport fares take immediate effect across selected routes within and around the university community. The updated fares are as follows: New Park to Campus now costs ₦250, Oke-Odo to New Park is ₦150, while Terminus to New Park has been fixed at ₦200.
The Union explained that the adjustment is a result of sustained engagements with relevant stakeholders, aimed at balancing the current operational challenges faced by transporters with the welfare of students.
In addition, transport operators have been directed to strictly comply with the approved sitting arrangement of 3-3-2. The Union emphasized that any form of overloading or arbitrary increase beyond the approved fares will not be tolerated.
Students were also encouraged to report any violations through appropriate channels to enable swift intervention by the authorities.
