UNILORIN Appoints New Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services)
The Senate of the University of Ilorin has elected Prof. Olalere Adeyemi of the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services). Honorable Updates gathered that the election formed a major highlight of the institution’s 309th Senate meeting held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the University Auditorium. The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN. Prof. Adeyemi succeeds Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, who recently concluded his tenure as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services). Until his emergence, Prof. Adeyemi served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts. A Professor of Yoruba Literature and Culture, he previously held office as the Head of the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages between 2005 and 2009. His academic interests span literary theories, Yoruba literary criticism, gender studies, culture, and the application of the Yoruba language in broadcasting and translation. Further findings by Honorable Updates show that Prof. Adeyemi once served as Assistant National Secretary of the Yoruba Studies Association of Nigeria and is a member of several professional bodies, including the African Literature Association and Egbe Akomolede Yoruba. In addition to his academic contributions, the new Deputy Vice Chancellor has published extensively in both national and international journals.
