UPDATE ON TRAGIC DEATH OF LASU STUDENT

Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU), Office of the Public Relations Officer (5STAR), has issued a fresh update on the ongoing pursuit of justice following the tragic death of Abdulrasheed Azeezat Adenike. According to the Union, under the leadership of Comr. Adebayo Korede Peter (APK), LASUSU has continued to take decisive steps to ensure accountability and transparency in the handling of the case. Following earlier developments, during which union representatives were reportedly denied access at the police station, LASUSU immediately escalated the matter in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS JCC). In a further demonstration of solidarity, LASUSU executives, stakeholders, and concerned students carried out a peaceful procession to the Area M Command, Idimu, where they engaged the Nigeria Police Force and demanded a comprehensive update on the incident. After the peaceful engagement, the Area Commander, alongside other senior officers, received a ten-member delegation from the Students’ Union for a closed dialogue session. During the meeting, the following updates and resolutions were communicated: * The suspect has been arrested and transferred from Igando Police Station to Area M Command * The deceased has been laid to rest * The vehicle involved in the incident has been identified and impounded * The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned in court today, Monday, 13th of April, 2026 The Union expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, student bodies, and individuals who have supported the #JusticeForAzeezat campaign, noting that collective efforts have contributed significantly to the progress recorded so far.
