The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued a strong directive to accredited centres across the country, warning that any facility not visible on its central monitoring system may face serious sanctions.
According to a bulletin released on Monday, the board emphasized that all centres involved in registration and examination processes must ensure their surveillance cameras are fully functional and accessible in real time from its headquarters’ control room. It stated that any centre where activities cannot be monitored live risks having such operations declared invalid.
The board further noted that affected centres may also lose payment for services rendered, stressing that visibility on its system is now a non-negotiable requirement. It added that any centre that goes off the monitoring grid during examinations could be immediately delisted from its list of accredited centres.
Explaining the rationale behind the directive, the board highlighted that real-time monitoring plays a crucial role in detecting irregularities during both registration and examinations, while also enabling swift intervention where necessary.
The board disclosed that more than 150 centres were not visible during the recent registration exercise. Although there were initial considerations to cancel registrations conducted at those centres, it instead opted for further scrutiny through enhanced remote monitoring mechanisms. The affected centres were subsequently invited for a meeting and given a deadline to fix their technical issues, with payment tied strictly to confirmed compliance.
It was also gathered that some centres have already been delisted following observations from the central monitoring system.
